Something about these pants scream 'tangerine trees and marmalade skies,' am I right?  This is the second time I've worn palazzo pants during the Bib + Tuck Forward Fashion project and I'm embracing it.  It's not a trend I would've jumped on myself (too many pairs in 5th grade, I suppose) so it's been fun to experiment through this avenue instead.

There is a whole lot going on in this outfit--pastel sunglasses, leather sleeves and hot pink silk just to name a few.  I picked this coat up to give my classic trench a respite this spring (which I've been wearing to death since I bought it a few years back).  I'd been seeing leather sleeves around stores/blogs/the office and couldn't resist them when paired with a casual, military silhouette.  As for the other mediums in this outfit, who knows if they work, but for now I'll say they do.

Well-Dressed Men (See Jane Style)

As some of you may already know, I'm a men's stylist over at Trunk Club.  I'm constantly scouring the shelves of inventory in our loft to create the perfect outfit for men all across the country.  Men's fashion is now a passion of mine and as the temperatures rise, I can't help but to incorporate some of my favorite trends into outfits I pack for my clients and show to guys in person.  Some of my favorite tips that I pass along to clients below...

• Colored pants aren't just for women.  They can liven up a classic navy blazer--especially at a summer wedding!
• Get to know a tailor.  Men and women alike should make it a priority to find a great (and inexpensive) tailor; it can make a world of a difference when taking in blazers, shortening hems and even nipping in the waist.
• Learn to layer.  Whether it's a t-shirt under a henley (as pictured above) on a warm afternoon or a button-down under a sweater under a blazer in the fall, layering helps to give you a distinctive style.  Plus, it keeps you warmer on chilly spring days so you can avoid your heavy overcoat!

Different/Same (See Jane Wear...Again)

It's hard to re-wear a dress in a different way.  You can change the shoes or even the bag; maybe, add a coat on top for warmth.  But once everything is stripped down, the dress will still be the same on you.  Last time this dress was on the blog, it was on a cold January night in Atlanta; here, I wore it on a chilly April evening to a charity benefit in Chicago.  It's the same, but different--just like everything else.

It seems like the days I choose to wear white jeans turn out to be the coldest.  I figure if you can wear white pants on chilly days, it'll take nearly zero effort to style them when it's balmy outside.  Here's to white jeans, all year round!  (And have a wonderful weekend.)

Roasted Asparagus With Browned Butter + Balsamic (See Jane Cook)

I don't want to toot my own horn, but I may have discovered the most delicious asparagus.  I found this recipe which called for a sauce that contained 1 tablespoon soy, 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar and 2 tablespoons browned butter; I changed it up a bit (because I wanted a bit more tang) by adding another tablespoon of vinegar and a bit more butter.  It's essential that you slightly brown the butter in a pan rather than just melt it--it totally makes the flavor of the sauce!

Roast the asparagus (be sure to salt and pepper it and add a bit of olive oil so it doesn't stick to the foil!) in the oven at 400 degrees for 12-15 minutes before pouring the combined mixture over it.  If you're looking for a new (but simple) asparagus recipe, I must insist you try this--it's heavenly.

This camel cape/wrap sweater is the latest piece of the Bib + Tuck Forward Fashion Project.  It was the perfect item for work today seeing as the wind was howling but it was too mild for a heavy coat; I felt nice and safe wrapped in this cocoon of a garment.

I think I owned these pants in legging form when I was in elementary school (with a coordinating hoodie, I'm sure).  When I got back into colored denim (which again, were a staple in my 1st grade closet), I knew it was only a matter of time before I bought some fun, floral jeans.  When Eric saw me wearing these pants he said, with a laugh, "Wow, what are those?"  You know you're wearing something good when a man shakes his head.

The mint jeans are back...post-St. Patrick's Day.  I wore these to work today, again, just to highlight their versatility.  My colored jean kick is making wonder what I wore all last spring and summer.  When you find a piece (or pieces) you love do you ever wonder how you did without it for so long?  

Also, it was sunny and windy outside today, as you can see.

You have no idea how I excited I was for this gem of a coat to arrive as part of the Bib + Tuck Forward Fashion Project.  I've been admiring it from afar on all my favorite bloggers (Alicia, Christine, + Jules); when I finally got to wear it myself, it was all that I expected and more.  The downside of this awesome project?  I'll be sad to see it go.

The search is over; I've officially lost a great pair of sunglasses.  It's not a proud moment (it's the first good pair I've ever lost) but I'm admitting that they're finally gone.  I have other pairs but have only been exclusively wearing my Karen Walker shades as of late.  I'm on the hunt for more, specifically candy-colored frames (across all price points).  Should I splurge or are pastel sunglasses a fleeting trend?

What a weekend!  My sister adopted the cutest 7 month-old pup on a whim yesterday (well, not really a whim, she's wanted a dog for years) and I just had to show her off.  We believe her to be a beagle/collie mix but if you have an eye for dog breeds, feel free to chime in with suggestions!  She's really a sweetheart and I'm already a proud aunt.
