Ever since Eric and I welcomed little Jerome, the English Bulldog, into our home this past summer, he's quickly become a very important member of the family.  That's the thing about pets:  if I walk into my apartment in a gloomy mood or after a bad work day, his droopy face instantly lifts my spirits. You've maybe noticed that I'm a tad infatuated with my pet (as evidenced here and on my instagram); so it wouldn't be crazy to say that on Christmas Eve, I spontaneously directed a little photo shoot on my in-law's front porch.

My current workplace lacks a real dress code but for the first four years out of college, I lived in business casual.  So, every once in awhile, I like to change it up by dusting off the ol' pencil skirts and donning them at the office.  Wearing this outfit today, I felt very 'Joan Holloway' at the Sterling Cooper holiday office party.  In fact, I almost started my own conga line.

This scarf cracks me up.  Don't get me wrong, I love it, but come on--it's huge!  But it's also, cozy, perfect for a chilly office and large enough that it somehow conceals a bad hair day.  Now that I think about it, this scarf is pretty awesome; now I feel bad for mocking it.

Do as I say, not as I do is the old adage we've all heard.  I always tell my clients at work that when you live in a freezing city like Chicago, that the more coats, the merrier.  They're essentially an outfit in itself and you spend more than enough time wearing them.  Well, from what you've seen, I only wear this coat.  That may be true, but do as I say, not as I do (I do wear other coats, though--I promise).

Shopping for men is never easy.  I know there are a million other gift guides out there (and they're all awesome and great for ideas) but I thought I'd make one for the guys--they're a tough bunch!  And seeing as I work in in industry that caters to them, I thought I'd add some of my expertise.

The morning after a fun night is never easy; it's especially difficult when you have set plans and important errands that need tending to.  I've said it before and I'm bound to say it again, but I'm just not a hat person.  Still, I try and wear them from time to time and find they're a great way to look somewhat put together on a cold day.
